Gemini 1x1 LED Panels
We've recently upgraded to the Litepanels Gemini 1x1 LED panels. These panels seem to be a bit sturdier and more durable than the Astra 6X. The Gemini feature accurate full spectrum Daylight and Tungsten light, with 0-100% dimming. Additionally, the Gemini feature full color with hue and saturation control. All Gemini panels include a soft box, perfect for interviews and extended lighting control. These lights are great in a myriad of situations, and, to be honest, you'll feel really cool just being near one. MYT WORKS SLIDER
We've recently invested in a new camera slider that promises to elevate our current offerings. The MYT Works Medium Glide Slider is a four-foot slider that offers expert, durable craftsmanship in a user-friendly, easy-to-use design. When a Dana Dolly is too cumbersome, and a smaller, two or three foot slider won't give you the range you need, the MYT Works Medium Glide Slider is the solution. Astera Titan LED Tubes Amaze
If you haven't heard of Astera's Titan LED Tubes, prepare to be amazed! Think Arri Skypanel, in a 41" tube. With a huge spectrum of color options, a large range of whites, and temperature range of 3200-6500K, you'll be able to find the color or temperature you need. These lights are optimized for an ultra-high TLCI, a very high CRI and peak brightness. We’ve upgraded our on-board monitor selection to include the SmallHD 702 Bright. This amazing 7-inch on-camera monitor is great indoors, and amazing out-doors. This monitor is very bright, 1000 cd/m² bright! It’s also crisp like a potato chip, 1000:1 contrast ratio with a Full HD 1080 display! (One you pop, you can’t stop.) The battery situation is amazing too! Instead of having to choose between Sony, L-Series, and Canon LP-E6 batteries, you can use both! We did get an adapter that uses the LP-E6 slot to D-tap though, as these monitors require a bit more juice than the DP7. You can of course use SDI or HDMI, there’s a headphone jack, and it’s light weight, so, you’re in good hands with this monitor!

Factory Reset will fix the “unfixable”!
On set, there is always the potential for mistakes, errors, problems, calamities, squirrel attacks, and mysteries. Perhaps, though, the worst kind of problem is an audio problem; not because audio is the worst (it’s the best! after craft services…), but because audio is invisible. I’m digging a pretty big hole here. Audio techs, mixers, boom ops, etc. aren’t invisible, that’s just their mossy oak shoes, shorts, shirt, command belt, tactical vest, safari hat, Oakley sunglasses, field-mixer bag, and backpack full of pudding snacks and Slim Jim’s! It’s hard, nay, impossible to see anything that’s covered in mossy oak.
Let’s get back on track. Audio problems are really difficult to fix, because it’s usually a technical issue that could be anywhere from the mixer, to the frequency, to the XLR run- it’s one of those things you have to just start checking off the boxes, go down the list, and check everything. It’s like in Christmas Vacation when Clark Griswold couldn’t figure out why the 100,000 imported Italian twinkle lights wouldn’t work, so he starts checking every single one of them… lo’ and behold, the light switch wasn’t on in the garage. That is what audio is like!
Recently, we heard of an issue where none of the lavs or XLRs going into a Sound Devices 633 were showing up, the channels wouldn’t arm, you couldn’t even turn them on! Scary! After going through the normal steps without a solution, the tech ended up doing a factory reset. FIXED! Now, you will lose your folder structure, and any presets saved, but, it’s better than failing at life. To accomplish this, do this:

Power down the mixer.

Press and hold down the menu knob for 15.1 seconds.

Power the mixer back up, wipe the sweat off, and get back to audio glory!
