An Interesting Take of RED Helium 8K #redcamera #8k #redcinema
October 4, 2016Production Gear
In an effort to avoid doing any real work, I was perusing Al Gore's "internet", and came across an interesting article from our friends over at "No Film School". Mark Toia, advertising photographer turned advertising cinematographer/director, gives us an interesting and informative look into his experiences and opinions of shooting 8K on the new RED Helium. I know FiveSix Productions already brought the Helium up, but this is pretty cool... I'll let the video speak for itself.
Like Mr. Toia said, most people can't tell the difference between 6K and 8K eithout some guidance and/or the proper screen/projector; and content trumps production quality at the end of the day, but the quality and improvement of 8K is very cool. Here's his Vimeo page where you can let your eyes view some of his amazing work. F11 Rentals doesn't have a Helium yet (can't remember where I left my pot of gold), but we do have a fantastic RED Epic Dragon that will do some pretty sweet 6K... if that would work better than your iPhone.... Bill Aylward, looking at you buddy.
F11 Rentals Plays with Huge Toys!! #CAT #mine16 #BigOlTires @minexpoint

F11 Rentals sent some LED light panels, a SoundDevices 664 audio mixer, and a Canon C300 Mark I over to MINExpo International 2016 to be among all the latest and greatest in the world of mining. Mining, as you know, provides the world with various resources such as coal, salt, gold, nickle, diamonds, and so, so much more. It's up to the fine men and women of the mining industry to figure out the quickest, safest, and most cost effective way to extract these resources while still protecting the environment (hopefully) as much as they can. F11 Rentals sends it's gear and services to dozens and dozens of conferences and expos each year, and this one certainly didn't fail in the 'wow' factor with it's larger-than-life machines, amazing technology, and gosh-o-golly, gigantic tires! It's a busy time of year, so we need to get back to the gear room and prep for our next Las Vegas video production rental gear order. See ya' real soon.
F11 Rentals Feels Poor #lasvegasproductiongearrental #CaesarsPalaceSuites

So, here's the thing about money.... I don't have any. The other thing is, if you think you have money, a really good way to get your feet back on solid earth is to view some of the suites on the Las Vegas Strip. F11 Rentals sent a gear package over to a suite at Caesars Palace, and let's just say, we were impressed. You know you've made it when your hotel suite is three times the size of my apartment. You know you need to get back to work and save some money when even the restrooms have appliances you've never seen before, and are too nervous to try to use, so I just held it. From now on, I'm going to call it a hotel sweet, because, it's that awesome. If you need some gear, give us a call.

We're not just pretty faces and bulging muscles here at F11 Rentals, we also work tirelessly to deliver all that our customers need to make their production an A+! Last week we set up a full black screen/dramatic light/interview setup for a television show that needed some help here in Vegas. The good folks who hired us needed full equipment and a crew member, and needed to produce and interview over the phone from back east in their home office. So we provided a shooter, full camera and audio setup, as well as all the lighting, grip gear, and backdrop they needed. Everything went great, and the footage is already back east ready to be edited into what should be a really cool history piece/detective show.

It's been over half a year since we've had the Canon C300 Mark II's in our collection, and we're really starting to see the difference between them and the Mark I's. Let me say quickly, we really love and endorse our C300 Mark I's, and send them out constantly. That being said, we're really seeing a difference in the improved image quality of the Mark II's. The image is just a little clearer, the colors are just a little more robust, but still easy to deal with, and the option to shoot in 4K has been appreciated more often than expected. To keep this short and sweet, we love our Mark I's, but totally recommend the Mark II's to really add value and extra quality to your shoot.

Recently, F11 Rentals sent out a couple of our trusty Canon C300 Mark I's to the demolition site of the former Riviera Hotel here in Las Vegas. Our cameras along with a Sound Devices 633 audio mixer did their best to stay safe and dust free on site. After a quick cleaning of sensors and lenses, we confirmed that everything went just fine. Make sure to give us a shout if you need any video production rental gear in Las Vegas or wherever you are.
Fun with Firmware #Upgrades #Firmware
July 26, 2016Video Production Blog
Oh man, today is a great day! Because it's taco Tuesday? No. Though, that is a plus. Today is a great day because we get to update firmware! There are few things in life more exhilarating than updating firmware and cleaning out old hard drives (which we are also doing). We've got all our cameras, computers, and hard drives getting cleaned and updated so that they're ready to make some more movie magic! So, I'm going to get back to reading every word in the license agreements and user manuals. Every. Word. This is so much fun!
Learning and Growing
July 21, 2016Video Production Blog
Our mission is to provide the best video production rental equipment in Las Vegas to all our clients, and that means going above and beyond what's expected. Our team has thorough knowledge of our gear, and we are happy to provide any instruction or tips to make sure youget the most out of everything you rent. If there's something we don't know, you better believe we'll learn it ourselves, or point you in the direction you need to go. That said, if you're budget allows you to rent an audio mixer you've never used, or maybe upgrade your camera rental, and you're a little hesitant, just ask and we'll help you get going. For example, here's a starter video for utilizing our RED Dragon, just a handy link for when you're on set, and maybe forgot a step or two. (note: the camera sequence is similar for an Epic and Scarlet)
F11 Rentals Remembers "the Dragon". #BruceLee #EnterTheDragon
July 20, 2016Video Production Blog
On this day in 1973, Bruce Lee was taken from this world as a result of a brain edema thought to be caused by pain killers. Lee, who was only 32 years old, had become a film star in China, but had only found mild success in Hollywood in bit roles and small projects like playing Kato in the series The Green Hornet. Lee was born in San Francisco in 1940, and bounced back and forth between Hong Kong, Seattle, and Los Angeles. It wasn't until he returned to Hong Kong in the early 70's that he found his biggest success in films like The Big Boss, The Way of the Dragon, and Enter the Dragon. Sadly, by the time Warner Bros. released Enter the Dragon state-side, which catapulted Lee to American stardom, he was a month-departed; however, his legacy as one of the greatest martial arts actors and an all-around bad mo-fo's endures. A speculative curse surrounds Lee, as his son Brandon also perished at an early age (28), as a result of being accidentally shot on the set of The Crow in 1991. For more on history: read a book.
F11 Rentals Supports Indy Projects #indyfilm #nvfilmoffice
July 19, 2016Video Production Blog
F11 Rentals loves to support Indy film makers, young and old. We always do our best to offer good rates and great gear to students and independent artists who are trying to gain experience and build their portfolio. We here at F11 Rentals log tons of hours each week as we try to grow as the best video production rental house in Las Vegas, but that doesn't mean we don't like to get out and create ourselves. As a side project, independent of the company, a couple of our team members went out and created a video to submit to the Nevada Film Office for their annual video contest.
